What Happens in Strictly Reserved for You
Kang Tao assumes D is dead. He is not, but the recovered shard is nearly blank, because Capri is still split between him and Talia. The corporation now holds one half of a weapon and no way to use it.
Weak tells Talia that her mother is dead. It is the episode's most human scene and its cruellest, because it happens in a medical facility where Talia is being prepared for something she has not agreed to yet.
Then Kiril makes his decision. Told that Talia has very little time left, that the illness has reached her brain, and that a full installation of Capri will overwrite her consciousness entirely, he authorises it. He tells himself, and anyone who will listen, that she was going to die anyway.
Talia accepts. Not passively — she negotiates. She asks Capri to kill her father, as gruesomely as possible, for her mother. Capri agrees with something close to enthusiasm. What follows is the most sustained destruction in the series: a construct wearing a dying girl's body, hunting a corporate executive through Night City and treating the whole thing as a game.
D, meanwhile, survives with Omi's help. The reunion is quiet and a little humiliating for him. Omi points out that he could have done anything with his life and chose this. D admits the revenge is empty and says the only thing he still wants is Capri. He is no longer chasing the people who killed his clan. He is chasing the thing that made him feel like a person.

New Characters and Reveals
The installation does not erase Talia, and the show is careful about this. Capri merges with her rather than replacing her, which is why Talia's rage is still driving the construct's behaviour. The distinction matters enormously for the finale, and it is the most commonly misreported plot point in coverage of the season.
Kiril also reveals, almost in passing, that Avida's claim about Talia's parentage was not true. Weak is not her father. It changes nothing about how he behaves, which is the point.
Songs in Episode 9
- “A Rusty Dream” — DOUDOU. Plays as D and Omi watch the broadcast while Capri hunts Kiril across the city.
Episode 9 Ending Explained
The episode ends with the season's two plots finally pointed at the same target. Capri is hunting Kiril. D is hunting Capri. Weak is somewhere between them, carrying an urn. Nobody is in control of the situation, least of all the corporations that thought they were.
Talia's request is the emotional engine of the finale. She has accepted that she may not survive being the host, and the only thing she asks for is that her mother's death be answered.
It is worth being precise about what she asks for. She does not ask to be saved, and she does not ask Capri to take revenge on her behalf in some abstract sense. She gives a specific instruction about how her father should die, and the construct follows it almost literally. The season has spent eight episodes establishing that Talia is not in control of her own body; this is the one moment where she is unambiguously directing it.
Weak, meanwhile, is reduced to watching. He cannot fight Capri, he cannot outrun Kang Tao, and he cannot talk Talia out of a decision she has already made. The man who opened the season as Night City's most dangerous edgerunner spends its penultimate hour carrying an urn and arriving too late.
