Announcement Timeline

October 20, 2026 — Premiere and Update 2.5 announcement

All ten episodes launched on Netflix. CD PROJEKT RED announced Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5, the “Edgerunners 2 Update”, for October 22 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with Switch 2 to follow. A REDstreams broadcast and full patch notes were scheduled for October 21.

August 20, 2026 — English trailer and release date

Netflix confirmed an October 20 release and released an English-language trailer featuring Clancy Brown as Weak. The trailer established the season's central relationship: a washed-up edgerunner taking a job from a mother whose daughter is in trouble.

June 30, 2026 — Japanese and English casts

Both casts were announced together, along with a premiere screening of episode one at Anime Expo. Rico Nasty's “You Can't Run From Me” was confirmed as the promotional track.

June 29, 2026 — Teaser 2

The first full trailer dropped, showing the four leads in motion and confirming the season's cyberpsychosis premise. Polygon described it as a sensory overload; that was intended as praise.

June 28, 2026 — Key visual and fall window

Netflix released the main key visual with Weak Kingsley, D, Roman Carax and Talia Yang, and confirmed a fall 2026 premiere.

July 4, 2025 — Official announcement

At Anime Expo, CD PROJEKT RED announced the series, confirmed Kai Ikarashi as director, and revealed the logo and poster. Hiroyuki Imaishi passed the role to Ikarashi on stage.

What to Watch For

  • Update 2.5 patch notes, published alongside the October 21 REDstreams broadcast.
  • Switch 2 release of Update 2.5, promised “shortly” after the other platforms.
  • Any season 3 announcement — nothing has been confirmed, and the showrunner has declined to say what happens after the finale.
  • Soundtrack release details for the full score, which had not been published at the time of writing.
