Confirmed Details

CD PROJEKT RED's own announcement names only two features: cyberware customisation and a new dual-wielding playstyle, plus “a range of other new items and features” including content inspired by the anime. The key art shows V fighting alongside Weak Kingsley, which suggests cosmetic or narrative crossover rather than a playable character.

Reported but Unconfirmed

A creator video was published ahead of embargo and then pulled. Its contents were widely reported by outlets including Kotaku, Notebookcheck and TechPowerUp. CD PROJEKT RED has not confirmed any of the following.

• A Double Trouble perk in the Cool skill tree enabling dual-wield pistols and revolvers.
• A new gig called Clampdown, positioned as a prequel to the anime.
• A side quest called Welcome to Paradise, narrated by Richard Night.
• Five new Glamdocs that let players change the appearance of arm cyberware.
• Five new clothing sets, new hairstyles, and Cyberpunk TCG photo mode frames.
• A radio station playing music from both anime seasons.
• mod.io support on consoles, excluding Switch 2, with achievements disabled on modded saves.
• An FOV slider on consoles, save file folders, item filters and a PS5 HDR fix.

What Update 2.5 Means for the Anime

The first Edgerunners update, released alongside season 1, added weapons, clothes and a handful of gigs, and is remembered fondly. Update 2.5 is a larger proposition: if the console mod support is real, it is the most significant structural change to the game since Phantom Liberty.

For anime viewers, the interesting part is the narrative crossover. A gig positioned before the series would make the game a genuine prequel for the first time, rather than a collection of references.

How to Prepare

1. Finish the main story up to the point of no return, so any new gigs are accessible.
2. Reach Street Cred 15 or higher if the reported quest requirements are accurate.
3. Back up your saves before installing — console mod support may affect achievement eligibility.
4. Free up drive space; recent Cyberpunk patches have been substantial.
